CELL PHONE GUIDED TOURS NOW AVAILABLE AT THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S AIR & SPACE MUSEUM

A free cell phone audio tour is now available to visitors at the International Women’s Air & Space Museum.  With service provided by OnCell, the museum’s audio tour takes visitors through many permanent exhibits throughout the museum, highlighting a number of artifacts.  The tour has been developed as the museum rotates artifacts in many exhibits. The most recent addition is an expansion of the Jacqueline Cochran exhibit.  Cochran was a pioneer aviator who was the first woman pilot to break the sound barrier.  IWASM is exhibiting a Nina Ricci suit belonging to Cochran for the first time, as well as original drawings by Charles Hubbell, famed aviation artist, of Cochran’s plane.  “The cell phone audio tour is a great way for us to communicate information to our guests,” said Toni Mullee, the museum’s executive director. “The museum is full of fascinating stories and now we have another way to share them.”

Visitors to the museum dial a main telephone number to access the audio tour on their cell phones. Exhibits that are part of the tour have signage that instructs museum visitors how to access that stop. Visitors can choose their own route around the museum and decide which exhibits they would like to hear more about. The museum welcomes feedback on the new tour. A special code allows visitors to leave a voice mail regarding their experience.  There is no fee for the tour however normal plan minutes will apply.
