On February 13, 2012, OnCell Territory Manager Daniel Huntington presented a session to museum professionals at the Mississippi Museums Association Annual Conference in Corinth, Mississippi. The session, titled "Mobile Technology Made Easy" explored the different ways visitors can use cell phones and smartphones to access exhibit information and how these mobile solutions can help institutions provide positive user experiences. "I had a great time in Mississippi and spent time with some wonderful people," said Daniel. "A large trend I noticed is that sites are looking to collaborate with their Convention and Visitors Bureaus or Tourism Bureaus to make their projects come to reality in the whole area. Everyone loves the OnCell service and wants to implement it at their museums." Daniel will also lead a Mobile Tech Road Seminar at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark in Birmingham, Alabama on February 15, 2012 from 9am to 11:30am. Held on site at Sloss Furnaces, Daniel will be discussing mobile interpretation trends & tools to use for interacting with and engaging visitors at cultural institutions. Attendees will take the OnCell mobile tour at Sloss Furnaces, then see how to build a tour online using OnCell's platform. OnCell wants to share our mobile interpretive tools (cell phone tours, mobile web tours, mobile surveys, mobile giving, smartphone apps and text messaging) with your colleagues. We’ll present best practices for mobile tours, share industry statistics & mobile interpretation trends as well as discuss the results of 1000+ projects over 5 years. As a collaborative seminar, we invite you to share the mobile technology experiences at your site and to present your development process.
