OnCell Systems, Inc., the leading provider of on-demand, location-based multimedia content to cell phones and other mobile devices, announced today that an agreement has been reached with the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art , located in Ithaca, New York. Through their OnCell Audio service, Oncell Systems will provide a cell phone audio tour service to the museum located on the campus of Cornell University. The museum houses Cornell's art collection, which was begun in the 1880s by Cornell's first president, Andrew Dickson White. In 1973, the Museum moved into its present building, designed by I. M. Pei; it is a small masterpiece, with stunning views of Cayuga Lake, the campus, and Ithaca. Herbert F. Johnson, a graduate of Cornell's Class of 1922, was chairman of S.C. Johnson & Sons of Racine, Wisconsin, and a lifelong enthusiast of art and great architecture. OnCell Audio service will provide audio interpretation of the museums’ works of art to it’s 80,000 annual visitors. “We are truly excited at OnCell to work with such a prestigious art museum and college university,” said Thomas Dunne, OnCell Systems President and CEO. “This is a perfect arrangement for both organizations.” Johnson Museum of Art visitors will receive a brochure and will see exhibit signage with a local phone number to dial into where audio content can be retrieved. The audio tour, which visitors take using their own mobile phone device, is being offered by the museum at no additional charge to guests.
